Randi Hamel is a queer comics maker, animator and illustrator living in the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (Vancouver, BC). She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta.
Randi's practice ranges from murals and community workshop programming, to tattoos and installation art. Often collaborating with her partner Tajliya Jamal, the duo are common faces at local events such as Vancouver Comic Arts Festival and the Vancouver Art Book Fair. Randi has had the opportunity to work alongside comics legend Lynn Johnston (For Better or For Worse), creating illustrations and animations for her website. She has mentored under Kelly Mellings (The Outside Circle, Pulp Studios) creating animations and comics. Her work has been showcased in the Gordon Smith Gallery in North Vancouver, and she has been a featured artist on websites such as Tapas.io and Tumblr.com
